The Brief: Where Scrutiny Journals Was Starting From

Academic journal websites are judged on infrastructure, not decoration: submission access, author guidelines, editorial board credibility, and a published issue archive are what researchers actually check before deciding where to submit their work. Scrutiny Journals needed a site built around those functions rather than a generic brochure layout.

Who Is Scrutiny Journals?
An open-access, multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal with an international editorial board spanning Ethiopia and India, publishing research across fields as varied as environmental science, chemistry, IT strategy and social science.
A Genuinely International Editorial Board
Professors and department heads from Ethiopia and across India lend real, checkable academic credibility to the publication.
True Multidisciplinary Scope
Published research spans environmental pollution studies, chemistry, eco-tourism economics, cybersecurity and IT strategy within the same journal.
Built Around the Submission Process
Article submission and author guidelines are the core functional purpose of the site, not a buried subpage.
Goals:
A Website Academics Would Actually Trust With Their Research
Researchers evaluate a journal partly by its website. The site needed to signal legitimacy immediately and make the submission process straightforward for scholars unfamiliar with the journal.

The Challenge:
Presenting Academic Credibility Without a Marketing Budget’s Visual Toolkit
Academic publishing has different trust signals than commercial business: editorial board credentials, submission transparency, and publication rigour, not flashy visuals. Building a site that reads as credible to a professor evaluating where to submit, rather than a customer evaluating whether to buy, required a different design language than a typical service-business site.
